Indiana University's Violin Virtuosi to perform at BYU March 7

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host the Indiana University Violin Virtuosi Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni Center. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

The ensemble is under the supervision of Mimi Zweig, director, and Brenda Brenner, co-director, and will feature Chih-Yi Chen, piano, all of whom are members of the faculty at the IU Jacobs School of Music.

The concert will feature works by Telemann, Brahms, Bloch, Bartok, Copland and Kreisler.

In the spring of 2006, American Public Television released the Emmy-nominated documentary, “Circling Around — The Violin Virtuosi” which features IU String Academy students. The String Academy and iats director, Mimi Zweig, are recent recipients of a Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation grant which supports the teaching of gifted violinists.

Members of the ensemble include Brian Allen, Sangwoo Kim, Amy Lidell, Gregorio Lopes, Ren Martin-Doike, Stephen Mayhew, Oscar Pineiro, Misha Sanderson, Molly Sanderson, Aaron Smith, John Smith, Seung-Mi Sun and Daniel Wunderle.
