Higher education and the environment subject of BYU lecture

Students will learn how to become better stewards of the environment during a "brown-bag" cross-campus dialogue discussion on the intersection between higher education and the environment on Wednesday (March 26).

David Orr, distinguished professor of environmental studies and politics at Oberlin College, will speak at noon in 3222 Ernest L. Wilkinson Student Center at Brigham Young University. He will explain how students in all academic disciplines can care for the earth's natural resources.

His lecture will be followed by an informal discussion, which will conclude at 2 p.m.

Orr is the author of five books and many articles on the environment and its relationship to politics, education, architectural design and the sciences. He is a prominent advocate for the need to integrate principles of sustainability across all academic disciplines.

The lecture is sponsored by the Faculty Center, the David O. McKay School of Education, Undergraduate Education and the Marriott School Office of Service Learning and Diversity. For more information, contact Jane Birch at (801) 422-4008.
