Harold B. Lee Library now offering new video database

An educational YouTube? The Harold B. Lee Library at Brigham Young University has recently acquired a new database that may be just that.

The films come from Films Media Group, the leading source of high-quality video and multimedia for academic, vocational and life-skills content. Films Media Group serves the education community through its four brands: Films for the Humanities and Sciences, Cambridge Educational, Meridian Education and Shopware.

“Films On Demand” features more than 8,000 educational films with topics covering a wide variety of disciplines, including anthropology, art and architecture, business and economics, careers, technology, criminal justice, education, environmental science, consumer sciences, counseling, health, music and dance, religion, political and social cience, technical education and English and world languages.

Available titles are equally diverse and colorful, and feature "Nomadic Steppe Riders in Kyrgyzstan," "Quadratic Functions," "The Royal Opera House’s 'Aida,'" "Beowulf," "String Theory," "Textile Manufacturing" and "A TV in the Baby Bottle" (which addresses the impact of children’s programming on babies).

To view the complete listings, visit digital.films.com/Dashboard.aspx. For more information on the service, contact Jared Howland, catalog systems and database unit manager at the Lee Library, 801-422-3416, jared_howland@byu.edu.
