Guest organist Andras Viragh in recital at BYU Oct. 1

Guest organist Andras Viragh will present a free organ recital Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall at Brigham Young University.

Viragh's concert will feature music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Tomaso Giovanni Albinoni, Franz Liszt, Zoltan Kodaly and Cesar Franck.

The Hungarian organist was trained at the Royal Conservatory in Liege, Belgium, and earned degrees at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music and the Bela Bartok Conservatory of Music in Budapest.

Viragh is the music director and organist at the Old City Parish Church in Budapest, as well as the choirmaster at the Kapisztran Choir of Orszaguti Francisan Church.

He is a regular soloist in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Budapest and has given solo performances in Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, France, Bulgaria, Slovakia and the United States.
