Guest artist Margriet Tindemans to perform medieval music June 9

The Brigham Young University School of Music will host Margriet Tindemans for a concert of medieval music Friday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the Museum of Art Lied Gallery.

Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The concert will feature a small choir, directed by Tindemans, performing the music of Hildegard von Bingen. Also appearing will be the Utah-based a cappella medieval women's quartet Vos Floris. Tindemans will also perform solo pieces on medieval stringed instruments, including a new work written by BYU composer-in-residence Christian Asplund.

Tindemans has performed and taught medieval music on four continents, and she assisted in founding both the German ensemble Sequentia and the Huelgas Ensemble of Belgium.

As a player of early stringed instruments, such as medieval fiddle, rebec and harp, Tindemans performs and records with the group Medieval Strings. She also frequently receives invitations to perform with the Folger Consort, the Newberry Consort and other leading early-music ensembles.

For more information about the concert, contact Christian Asplund at (801) 422-3688.
