Together with her trio of musicians on bass, drums and piano, she pays tribute to the early makers of jazz with songs made famous by Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and more
Freelon has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theatre, the Kennedy Center and other world-class venues. She has earned a well-deserved reputation as a live performer and ranks "in the very top echelon of jazz vocalists," according to the Los Angeles Times.
"She really is a singular artist, a consummate entertainer, and dedicated educator who not only gives a great performance, but champions the role of music and the arts in the lives of young people throughout the United States. We are thrilled to welcome her to BYU for the very first time," says BRAVO! series producer Jeff Martin.
The performance is supported by Marcus and Andrea Hutchins and sponsored by BRAVO! Professional Performing Arts at BYU, the university's concert series that hosts world-renowned guest artists from across the globe.
