Got kids? Need holiday activities? BYU museums, facilities post holiday hours

Several museums, services and facilities on the Brigham Young University campus will have special hours for the holiday period Dec. 19-Jan. 3.

Museum of Art

• Closing Dec. 24 and 31 at 4 p.m.

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Museum of Peoples and Cultures

• Closed Dec. 23-25, 30 and Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

The museum is located at 700 N. 100 East, Provo. Admission is free.

Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum

• Closing Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 26-30 at 5 p.m.

• Closed Dec. 24-25, 31 and Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The museum is located at 645 E. 1430 North in Provo. Admission is free.

Education in Zion exhibit

• For a listing of holiday hours, visit the Web site at educationinzion.byu.edu.

The exhibit is located in the gallery space on the east end of the Joseph F. Smith Building on campus. Admission is free.

BYU Bookstore

• Closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.

• Closing Dec. 24 at 4 p.m.

• Open Dec. 28-31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Jan. 2 from 2 to 7 p.m.

Wilkinson Student Center

The Wilkinson Student Center will have regular hours except on Dec. 24 and 31, when it will close at 6 p.m. The center will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

WSC Barbershop

• Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WSC Campus Craft and Floral

• Closed Dec. 24-26, 31 and Jan. 1

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

WSC Cougareat

• View Christmas hours for each campus restaurant at dining.byu.edu/cougareat.

WSC Cougar Creations Copy Center

• Closed Dec. 24-26, 31 and Jan. 1

• Hours other days: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

WSC Games Center

• Closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan 1.

• Closing Dec. 31 at 6 p.m.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to midnight and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

WSC Outdoors Unlimited

• Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

• Regular hours other days: Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Harold B. Lee Library

• View holiday hours at lib.byu.edu/hours_vac.php. Special Collections on level one will be exhibiting a collection of 19th-century British and American Christmas-themed books until Jan. 1 to commemorate the holiday season. It will be available during regular library hours.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
