Geslisons featured at "Family Folk Concert" May 13 at BYU

The Geslison Family will be the featured artists in the "Family Folk Concert" Thursday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall on the Brigham Young University campus.

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend, but tickets are required and are available at the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322.

The Geslisons, who perform diverse folk music styles including bluegrass, old-time and Celtic, are known for their authenticity and fresh interpretations.

They will be joined at the concert by members of the Cleuff family, part of the Maple Mountain Clan, who will also perform bluegrass and Celtic music.

The Geslison family is well-known throughout Utah for being superb folk music and dance performers, as well as for their passion for sharing folk arts with the community. They have performed at folk music festivals throughout the nation.

Mark Geslison, a faculty member at the BYU School of Music, is an accomplished guitarist and performer of other fretted instruments. He and his wife Jeanette, who is a part-time faculty member in the BYU dance department, worked with BYU's International Folk Ensemble.

The Family Folk Concert is sponsored by the Watkins Endowment for Music and the Family.
