Beginning Saturday, Oct. 19, Brigham Young University’s School of Music will present the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Family Concert Series featuring four concerts designed for families with young children. All events will be held on Saturdays at 11 a.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.
Admission is free, thanks to a generous donation from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation. For family passes, visit the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office or the Marriott Center Ticket Office.
All family members are encouraged to attend regardless of age, and study guides will be made available prior to each concert at byuarts.com.
- Oct. 19: “The Ingredients of the Opera,” directed by Lawrence Vincent with music by the BYU Philharmonic conducted by Kory Katseanes, will feature selections from “Die Fledermaus” (“The Bat”), while encouraging interest and enthusiasm for opera.
- Nov. 16: “Jazz for Kids,” directed by Steve Call, will feature music from the Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band as they perform popular jazz styles improvised for plenty of fun.
- Feb. 15: “A Singing Revolution,” conducted by Rosalind Hall and Jean Applonie, will feature the BYU Men’s Chorus and Women’s Chorus in an interactive concert.
- April 12: “Musical Portraits,” directed by Kory Katseanes, will feature the BYU Philharmonic creating colorful images of memorable characters from page, stage and screen with selections from the William Tell Overture, “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter and more.
