Free performances to close out BYU music calendar Dec. 5-10

Beginning Thursday, Dec. 5, Brigham Young University’s School of Music will present several free student performances.  

  • Thursday, Dec. 5:  A Brass Chamber Night, featuring a series of quartets and quintets for trombone, brass and horn, will be performed by Xie Xie Quatro Trombone Quartet, Slippin’ Slides Trombone Quartet, BYU Trumpet Quartet and BYU Trombone Choir. The performance is at 7:30 p.m. in the University Parkway Center, located on the northeast corner of University Ave. and University Parkway.
  • Saturday, Dec. 7: The BYU Harp Solo and Ensemble Concert, directed by Anamae Anderson, will feature classical, jazz, and Christmas-inspired pieces for harp solo and harp ensemble. The performance is at 7 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.
  • Saturday, Dec. 7: The Utah TubaChristmas, directed by Steve Call, will feature a mass tuba-euphonium ensemble made up of students, amateur and professional musicians from the area. In addition, a professional tuba quartet, The BYU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, and the BYU Jazz Legacy Dixieland Band will perform. The performance is at noon in the Madsen Recital Hall.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 10: The BYU Jazz Guitar Ensemble, directed by Kristen R. Bromley, is an all-guitar ensemble that will be performing a variety of jazz standards and Christmas songs, featuring a guest appearance by Danny Herrera. The performance is at 9:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.
