Founding Fathers, Folk Singers Ensemble perform at BYU Nov. 19

The Folk Singers Ensemble and Founding Fathers will perform in the Brigham Young University School of Music's Folk Music Ensemble concert Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

The Folk Singers Ensemble is a six-voice ensemble with two men and four women. The Founding Fathers consists of five men playing various instruments including the violin, guitar, mandolin and bass.

The Folk Music Ensemble consists of several smaller ensembles and has an emphasis in American folk music.

The group was originally formed in 1982 to accompany BYU's International Folk Dance Ensemble with live music on the dance ensemble's international tours.

Currently, the Folk Music Ensemble performs shows to a variety of local audiences in addition to its performances with BYU's International Folk Dancers.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
