"Flexible Music" plans BYU concert Oct. 23

Will perform works by BYU composer Steven Ricks, BYU alumnus Ethan Wickman

Brigham Young University’s School of Music will present a special performance by guest artists Flexible Music Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Tickets for the performance will be $6 and can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office, by calling (801) 422-4322 or online at artstix.byu.edu.

The New York-based group will present new works by BYU composer Steven Ricks and BYU alumnus Ethan Wickman. The program also includes pieces by John Link, Mikel Kuehn and Dutch composer Louis Andriessen.

Flexible Music began performing together in 2003. The group uses a unique blend of instrumentation that blurs the lines between jazz, rock and classical music. Ensemble members include Eric Huebner on piano, Daniel Lippel on guitar, Timothy Ruedeman on saxophone and Haruka Fujii on percussion.

The group’s visit to BYU is supported by the Barlow Endowment Education Fund and the Laycock Center for Creative Collaboration in the Arts.

For more information, contact Steven Ricks at (801) 422-6115.
