First Lady of Peru plans BYU lecture March 30

Will address audience in Spanish

María del Pilar Nores Bodereau de Garcia, the First Lady of Peru, will speak at Brigham Young University Friday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in 151 N. Eldon Tanner Building.

The lecture will be presented entirely in Spanish. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend.

The lecture is titled “A Conversation with the First Lady of Peru.”

An economist by profession, de Garcia was born in Argentina. She became a Peruvian citizen when she married Alan Garcia, the country’s Aprista Party leader, whom she met at the Sorbonne University in Paris. She was the First Lady of Peru from 1985-1990 and is again, as of 2006.

This lecture will be sponsored by the Instituto de Estudios Vallejianos in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
