Fine Arts and Entertainment Calendar for June 2008

Saturday, May 30, through Saturday, June 14

Two countries, two cultures and two languages will tell the inspiring story of a young Mexican emigrant in the BYU Theatre for Young Audiences’ production of “Esperanza Rising.” Evening performances May 30 to June 13 will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Pardoe Theatre, Harris Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $7 for weeknight shows and $8 for weekend shows with a BYU or student ID. Tickets to matinee performances June 5, 7, 13 and 14 at 2 p.m. are $6. Saturday, June 7

The University Chorale will present its annual "Evening Song" concert in the historic Provo Tabernacle, 100 South University Avenue, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will include a number of sacred pieces including sections of a major choral work of Mozart and songs set to Shakespeare sonnets. Admission is free.

Wednesday through Saturday, June 11-14

Gilbert and Sullivan’s comedic operetta, “H.M.S. Pinafore,” will be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. Tickets are $5 for weekday shows and $10 for weekend shows. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit byuarts.com or call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 422-4322.
