"eviDANCE," formerly "World of Dance," at BYU Sept. 12-15

The top ensembles from Brigham Young University's Department of Dance will present “eviDANCE” Wednesday through Saturday, Sept. 12-15, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall. There will also be a matinee Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tickets for the event are on sale at the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office, the Marriott Center Ticket Office and on byuarts.com/tickets. Prices range from $8 to $15  depending on seat location and performance date and time. Wednesday’s performance is a preview with all seats available for $8. Saturday night’s performance will be $10 for all seats.

Formerly known as “World of Dance,” the performance will feature troupes from the Ballroom Dance Company, Contemporary Dance Theatre, International Folk Dance Ensemble and Theatre Ballet, and each group will present a favorite piece from its repertoire.

The crew for “eviDANCE” includes Curt Holman, artistic director; Crysta Powell, production stage manager; Benjamin Sanders, production manager and lighting designer; Mark Ohran, technical director; and Marilyn Barret, Department of Dance chair.

BYU professors using game-changing strategies to prevent injuries, promote wellbeing in youth athletes

BYU professor Matt Seeley created the Strong Youth Project after watching all five of his children participate in youth sports. While he loves the many invaluable benefits of youth sports, he laments that his children often miss family activities for practice or face pressures to compete in sports during the offseason. These concerns have fueled his collaboration with professors from disciplines across BYU’s campus to improve organized sport experiences for youth, parents and coaches.
