“Evening of Concertos” Feb. 26 to feature top BYU student musicians

The Brigham Young University Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Kory Katseanes will join forces with BYU’s top student musicians in the annual “Evening of Concertos” Thursday, Feb. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

Tickets are $11, or $8 with BYU or student ID, and may be purchased online at www.byuarts.com, by phone at (801) 422-4322 or in person at the Harris Fine Arts Center Ticket Office.

The concert will include:

• Concerto in D minor for two flutes by Franz Doppler featuring Annie Elmer and Amber Packard, flutes.

• Variations on a Rococo Theme, Op. 33, by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky with Seth Castleton, cello.

* Concerto for piano, No. 2 in F minor, Op. 21, by Frederic Chopin featuring Natalie Durham, piano.

• Concerto for harp in C minor, Op. 35, by Albert Zabel with Marielle Smith, harp.

• Lia’s Recitative and Aria, from “L’Enfant Prodigue” by Claude Debussy with

Mindy Ammons, soprano

• Concerto for violin in D major, Op. 61, by Ludwig van Beethoven with Mary Julia Wilson, violin.

• Concerto for piano, No. 3 in D minor, Op. 30, by Sergei Rachaninoff with Conlan Miller, piano.
