European Union Fellow to give pair of lectures at BYU Jan. 18

Anne Burrill, a visiting European Union Fellow, will be featured at a pair of lectures hosted by the Brigham Young University David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies Wednesday, Jan. 18, at noon and 4 p.m. in  238 Herald R. Clark Building.

Her first lecture is titled “The European Union at a Crossroads.” Her second lecture will be given with BYU assistant professor of entrepreneurship and strategy Nathan Furr, and the title of the lecture is “Cowboys and Politicians: Will the U.S. or the EU Save the Global Environment and Economy?”

As an EU fellow, Burrill is deputy head of unit for international relations and enlargement for the European Commission’s Environment Directorate General. Her work concerns environmental relations with EU neighbors that aim to become EU Member States or that have taken on commitments to progressively converge their national policies with EU standards and norms.

Furr has acted as the founder or advisor to startups in the web 2.0 and clean technology and has sat on the board of the Utah Solar Energy Association. He is a contributor at Forbes magazine and is the co-author of “Nail It Then Scale It.”

These lectures will be archived at kennedy.byu.edu/archive. For more information, contact Lee Simons at (801) 422-2652 or lee_simons@byu.edu
