European Scholars Consortium Oct. 7-8 at BYU Conference Center

Brigham Young University's Center for the Study of Europe will host the second annual European Scholars Consortium Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8, at the BYU Conference Center.

This year’s theme, “The Changing Face of Europe,” will provide a forum for the examination and evaluation of the shifting shape and meaning of Europe.

Patrick Geary, professor of medieval history at UCLA, will deliver the keynote address, “European Nationalism and the Fight to Control the Past.”

More than 40 scholars from various disciplines at universities and colleges throughout the Rocky Mountain area will share their research on European studies through presentations and activities.

"I'm delighted to welcome colleagues from more than 20 colleges and universities from every state in the Mountain West,” said Wade Jacoby, CSE director. “I anticipate learning about new lines of research from a range of disciplines and about some of the latest pedagogical techniques to bring this knowledge into our classrooms."

All scholars are invited to share their work and to interact with colleagues from throughout the Intermountain West.

For more information on conference session times and registration, e-mail rmesconference@byu.edu or visit europe.byu.edu/RMESC.html.
