Eric Hansen to present BYU faculty bass recital Oct. 7

Brigham Young University School of Music faculty member Eric Hansen will perform bass in a faculty recital Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

Jayne Galloway will play the piano during the recital.

The recital will include pieces from Miloslav Gajdos, Serge Lancen, Eduard Nanny, Federigo Fiorillo, Franz Simandl, Gabrielle Faure, Giovanni Bottesini and Henri Vieuxtemps.

Hansen and Stacey Francom arranged two of the pieces Hansen will perform: "Beaumont Rag" and "Ashokan Farewell."

Hansen received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. He also did two years of DMA studies at the University of Maryland-College Park. He has played with many ensembles throughout the country including Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Winnipeg Chamber Music Society, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the National Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C.
