Engineering professor to speak at BYU devotional Dec. 4

Robert H. Todd, professor of mechanical engineering at BYU, will deliver a university devotional Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 11:05 a.m. in the Marriott Center.

BYU Television, KBYU TV, KBYU FM and byubroadcasting.org will air the forum live. For rebroadcast information, visit byubroadcasting.org.

Todd's contributions to engineering education began with a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering design from Stanford University. After eight years of teaching at BYU-Idaho (Ricks College) and 10 years of industrial experience in senior technical and management positions at General Motors and Michelin, he returned to academia to teach at BYU. While in industry he was responsible for more than 40 design and manufacturing development projects using a team approach.

Professor Todd helped develop BYU's Capstone Program in 1990 and was its founding director for six years. He served as a member of the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the national accrediting agency for engineering programs in the United States. In 2004, Todd was chosen to be a Fellow Member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The distinction recognized his outstanding contributions to the Society.
