Eliza R. Snow subject of KBYU-FM July 24 broadcast

A new production from KBYU-FM at Brigham Young University will host several featured guests to discuss Eliza R. Snow and her service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Sunday, July 24, at 5 p.m. on KBYU-FM at 89.1 and 89.5 FM.

The broadcast will feature historian Jill Mulvay Derr, pioneer music specialist Michael Hicks and host Sharon Swenson. Also featured will be teacher and actor Jean Jenkins who will be reading Snow’s poetry.

The producer of the program is KBYU-FM’s Crystal Heer.

“Many know Eliza R. Snow only as the writer of the LDS hymn ‘O My Father,’ but she was much, much more than that,” said Swenson.

Derr is managing director of BYU’s Joseph Fielding Smith Institute for Latter-day Saint History and an associate professor of Church History at BYU. Hicks, a BYU professor, is the author of “Mormonism and Music,” “Sixties Rock” and “Henry Cowell, Bohemian.”

Swenson is the associate chair and an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre and Media Arts at BYU, and Jenkins is an emeritus professor of communications and theatre at BYU.

The show can also be heard online at kbyufm.org/streaming.
