Elder W. Rolfe Kerr to speak at Feb. 5 CES Fireside at BYU

Elder W. Rolfe Kerr, a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and commissioner of education for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at a Church Educational System Fireside Sunday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University.

The fireside will be broadcast live on the BYU-Television and BYU-Radio satellite networks and at byubroadcasting.org. Rebroadcast information is available by visiting www.byubroadcasting.org.

Prior to his call as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy and CES commissioner, Elder Kerr was named a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy in 1996.

He has served as president of the Europe West Area and as a counselor in the Europe North Area, the North America Northwest Area and the Utah South Area presidencies.

Previous to full-time Church service, Elder Kerr was Utah Commissioner of Higher Education, executive vice president of BYU, president of Dixie College, assistant to the president and coordinator of student government at Utah State University, associate dean of students at the University of Utah and dean of men at Weber State University.

He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from USU and a doctorate from the University of Utah. He has also received four honorary doctoral degrees.
