Elder Gene R. Cook to speak at BYU devotional Feb. 1

Elder Gene R. Cook, assistant executive director of the Missionary Department and a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will speak at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1 in the Marriott Center for a campuswide devotional.

Live broadcasts of the devotional are available on KBYU-TV (Channel 11), the BYU-Television and BYU-Radio satellite networks, KBYU-FM (89.1) and at byubroadcasting.org, as well as on campus in the Joseph Smith Building auditorium and the Varsity Theatre in the Wilkinson Student Center. Elder Cook was called in October 1975 to serve as a member of the First Council of the Seventy. When the Council was reorganized a year later, he was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy. Previously, he was employed as the management trainer for employment at Church headquarters.

An author of several books and tapes and an area president for the Church in locations throughout North and South America, Elder Cook has reached out to thousands of young adults all over the world.
