Elder Donald L. Hallstrom to be BYU devotional speaker Dec. 7

Elder Donald L. Hallstrom, a member of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will address Brigham Young University students, staff and faculty in a Marriott Center devotional Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11:05 a.m.

The address will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels and at byub.org. Visit byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu for rebroadcast and archive information.

Elder Hallstrom was sustained as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 1, 2000. At the time of his call as a General Authority, he was serving as an Area Seventy in the North America West Area.

He served in the Asia North and North America Central Area Presidencies and as a counselor in the Young Men General Presidency, assistant executive director of the Family and Church History Department, executive director of the Audiovisual Department and in the Asia Area Presidency as a counselor, and from 2008 until 2010, as president.

He graduated from BYU with a bachelor of arts degree in economics. He was president of The Hallstrom Group, Inc., a real estate consulting and appraisal organization based in Honolulu,. He has held various professional designations and has been an expert witness in state and federal courts.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
