Educator L.D. Fink to present faculty workshop June 26

Registration available through June 17

The Brigham Young University Center for Teaching and Learning is offering a free hands-on workshop based on internationally acclaimed author L.D. Fink’s model of designing courses for significant learning Friday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center East Conference Room.

Interested faculty members should register by Wednesday, June 17, at ctl.byu.edu/making-a-difference-effective-course-design/. Lunch is included in the registration.

Participants will bring materials and work on their actual courses, getting a head start on upcoming classes. This one-day workshop is intended for full-time BYU faculty who are planning to teach a new course or redesigning an old one. Part-time faculty and student instructors will be considered based on space availability.

Effective course design can make a significant difference in student learning and in creating successful classes, according to Fink, author of “Creating Significant Learning Experiences.”

The workshop facilitator is Lynn Sorenson, a longtime collaborator with L.D. Fink. For more information, contact her at lynn_sorenson@byu.edu.
