"Education in Zion" exhibit available on Mondays until 9 p.m.

The “Education in Zion” exhibition on the second floor gallery of the Joseph F. Smith Building at Brigham Young University is now open Mondays until 9 p.m.

Student family home evening groups and community members are welcome to explore the exhibition on their own or schedule a guided tour by calling the exhibit Information Desk at (801) 422–6519.

“Education in Zion” is a permanent exhibition that documents the rich heritage and history of education in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The exhibit highlights the revelations of the Prophet Joseph Smith to the early beginnings of the seminary and institute programs. It also explains the early academy era of Church schools to BYU and the current worldwide Church Educational System.

Students conducted most of the research and created artwork, including a large mural of the Kirtland Temple and a sculpture depicting Christ as the “Good Shepherd.” The multimedia exhibition includes videos, photographs, facsimiles, letters and stories.

“Education in Zion” is open Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition is closed during campus devotionals and forums. Guided tours are available by appointment.
