Documentary producer looks at Iraq war during BYU lecture Feb. 4

Documentary film producer and director Dodge Billingsley will speak Wednesday, Feb. 4, at noon in 238 Herald R. Clark Building on the Brigham Young University campus.

Billingsley’s lecture, "Iraq at One Year: Looking Back/Looking Forward," will focus on his firsthand observations of the war in Iraq.

The International Forum Series lecture, sponsored by the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies, is free and open to the public.

Billingsley’s company, Combat Films and Research, released "Virgin Soldiers" in 2003, a documentary following the advance of a Marine squad from Kuwait to Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He has also done extensive work in Afghanistan since 2001, as well as in other parts of the Middle East, China and Africa.

Billingsley received a bachelor’s degree in history from Columbia University and a master’s degree in war studies from London’s King's College.

The presentation will be webcast live at kennedy.byu.edu/events/index.html.
