Brigham Young University faculty artist Diane Thueson Reich will present a vocal recital featuring pieces by living American composers Saturday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center.

Admission is free and all are welcome to attend.

Accompanied by guest pianist John Pickett, soprano Reich will perform pieces by Lori Laitman, Henry Mollicone and John Pickett. She will also premiere a song cycle by Maria Newman.

The program will include “The Frost Pane,” “If You Were Coming in the Fall” and “May’s Love” by Mollicone. The recital will also feature pianist Pickett’s “Morning Song,” “Evening Song” and “Harvest Moon.” Reich will present the world premiere of Newman’s “Speech-a-Dotes: Songs of Experience and Maturation.”

An assistant professor of voice at BYU, Reich teaches vocal and opera literature. Previously, she served as the director of opera at Central Washington University. She has a doctorate and master’s degree in vocal performance from Indiana University.

At home in the concert hall or on the opera stage, Reich has appeared in major operatic roles such as Anne Trulove in “The Rake’s Progress,” the title role in Strauss’ “Arabella,” Mimì in “La Bohème” and Valenncienne in “The Merry Widow.” She created the role of Rosamond in the world premiere of Michael Valenti’s opera “Beau Nash,” performed with Portland Chamber Orchestra.
