Prior to joining the BYU Student Life division in 1996, Heperi was director of student affairs at Snow College, supervising student government, student activities and new student orientation.

An alumnus of the Church College in New Zealand, Heperi received a master's degree in psychology from Utah State University and a doctorate in education from BYU.
