David Day to discuss Doctrine and Covenants at June 9 devotional

David Day from the Harold B. Lee Library will present a Brigham Young University devotional, “Lessons of Pride and Glory from the Doctrine and Covenants,” Tuesday, June 9, at 11:05 a.m. in the Joseph Smith Building Auditorium.

The devotional will be broadcast live on the BYU Broadcasting channels. Visit byub.org/devotionals or speeches.byu.edu for rebroadcast and archive information.

Day has served as curator of Music Special Collections and Music and Dance librarian in the Harold B. Lee Library since 1986. He also teaches the graduate research methodologies course for the BYU School of Music. His research interests include music bibliography, ballet music and the study of 19th-century music manuscripts.

In addition to his university assignments, Day serves as chair of the Bibliography Commission of the International Association of Music Libraries. Past positions in the same organization include founder and chair of the Subject Commission for Archives and chair of the Working Group on the International Registration of Music Archives.

He received a bachelor’s degree in music theory and a master’s degree in musicology from BYU. He also received a master’s degree in library and information sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate in musicology from New York University.

Green-thumb dynasty: BYU landscaping wins fifth national championship in six years

For the fifth time in six years, BYU students dug, pruned and planted their way to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition title, the March Madness of college landscaping teams. BYU bested 50 other universities in the four-day event, outscoring the second-place finisher by more than 358 points and breaking the 5000-point total for the first time in the 48-year history of the tournament.
