Dance Department offers second-block aerobics classes

The Brigham Young University Department of Dance announces three sections of a new aerobics class offered during the second block of winter semester.

Dance 130, Aerobic Dance, will be offered starting Feb. 26. Sections will be held at 9 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through Fridays.

Dance faculty member Claudia Hill said her research has shown block aerobic classes are more beneficial to students than traditional aerobic classes.

“In the summer our students meet four times a week for two months,” Hill said. “Normal class meets two times a week for four months. Based on pretests and posttests, students in abbreviated classes improved more in flexibility, strength, cardiovascular endurance and lean/fat body ratios.”

The deadline to add a second-block class is March 4.
