Dance concert tells story of women and the Mormon Battalion Feb. 25-26

The Brigham Young University Department of Dance presents "Left Behind: The Women of The Mormon Battalion" Friday and Saturday, Feb. 25-26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 122 Richards Building.

Tickets are $5. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or visit performances.byu.edu. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Dance, poetry, music, church history paintings and brief narrative will combine to provide insights into the lives of women who were left on the plains of Winter Quarters and Council Bluffs in July 1846 by men joining the Mormon Battalion.

Choreographer Caroline Prohosky was asked to create a production about the pioneer women who were left behind as their husbands heeded the prophet's call to join the Mormon Battalion.

Much of the information and stories used to create this production were taken from authentic text drawn from women's journals and letters.

Performers in the production are BYU students, faculty members and guest artists.

For more information contact Caroline Prohosky at (801) 422-3345.
