Dale Cressman named associate chair of Communications Department

Brad Rawlins, chair of Brigham Young University’s Department of Communications, announced that broadcast journalism professor Dale Cressman will fill the role of associate chair of undergraduate studies.

The position was previously held by Ed Carter who will now supervise the university’s newspaper, The Daily Universe.

Cressman will continue to develop the department’s undergraduate program and assist students on their paths to graduation. He will also continue to teach in the department.

Rawlins said Cressman is a good administrator and has an excellent understanding of the undergraduate curriculum for the department. “Dr. Cressman has already demonstrated the energy and passion he has toward the undergraduate learning for our students,” Rawlins said.

Cressman plans to emphasize assessment of teaching and learning, and to work on developing new curriculum to meet challenges currently facing print and broadcast journalism.

"Dr.Cressman brings to the associate chair role a rare blend of professional and academic experience,” said Susan Walton, also an associate department chair.
