"Cougarettes in Concert" will display award-winning routines March 19

Brigham Young University's award-winning precision dance team Cougarettes showcase the styles and techniques that have led them to national recognition in "Cougarettes in Concert" Wednesday through Saturday, March 16-19, 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building.

A matinee performance will be held Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $8. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or visit performances.byu.edu. Tickets will also be available at the door.

The concert will feature a variety of dance styles including jazz, character and lyrical.

"I am very excited about this year's production. We have an outstanding array of dance styles that effectively demonstrates why the Cougarettes are five-time USA National Collegiate Dance Team Champions and recognized as setting the standard for elite collegiate dance teams," said Jodi Maxfield, artistic director of the Cougarettes.

The show features choreography by two of the country's most renowned hip hop artists, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo.

"We feel very fortunate to have been able to bring the Dumos to Provo and to work with them. Their schedule has them in Australia, New York, England and New Zealand," Maxfield said.

The Cougarettes will also debut their routine for the National Dance Alliance College Dance Team National Championships titled "Silent Dolls." The four-time champions will compete for their fifth NDA championship title in April.
