My job at BYU is? an adjunct professor simultaneously teaching one class in each of three departments: the School of Family Life, Psychology and Organizational Leadership and Strategy in the Marriott School.
Currently, I'm working on... ways to further incorporate spiritual patterns and perspectives into my classes that model and scaffold understanding of the academic content and processes I teach.
My go-to BYU Creamery ice cream flavor is... German Chocolate Crunch.
I'm secretly good at... feeling at home on the streets of Beijing.
My advice to graduating seniors is... live life passionately, honestly and dream big.
The title of my autobiography would be... The Unexpected Twists and Turns of Life and How they Can Bring you to Amazing Places.
The best advice I've ever got about teaching is... to be your very best self. Students will remember you far longer than they will remember what you taught them.
My favorite professor was... my BYU graduate statistics teacher who could always detect confusion on the face of any student (even those like me who tried hide it). He would stop the lecture, answer the question and then proceed.
My favorite spot on campus is... the place that my children and I have fondly referred to as "Duck Island" (the water feature below the Carillon Bell Tower) where we have often played and picnicked together.
Students don't think I notice... their potential, but I often try to gear my teaching not only to who they are today, but who they will be in their tomorrows.
My advice to incoming freshmen is... to invest deeply in education, even in non-major classes, since you never know when the Lord will make use of that knowledge and those skills.
