Name: Claudine Bigelow

BYU employee since: 1999

My job at BYU is: professor of viola, the associate director of the School of Music and the graduate coordinator.

Currently I'm working on... performing with the orchestra at the Grand Teton Music Festival. Playing the viola in nature is not for every violist, but is very normal for me!

I dream about one day... having time to write the kinds of things I thought I would when I was a kid: fiction, stories. I always thought I would be a writer or a librarian.

When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me... making something. I am a voracious knitter and quilter. I love textiles. I enjoy the creative freedom and peaceful feeling they give me.

I love... walking out my front door and being welcomed by the many moods of Mount Timpanogos.

I always smile when... I see my kids doing their thing. I have three wonderful children, all different, all essential to the diversity and unity of our family.

My favorite sayings I often tell my students are... "Thank your mistakes." "You are your own best teacher." "Be a problem solver." and "You can do hard things."
