Cougar Queries is a series profiling BYU employees by asking them a few simple questions about their work, interests and life.
Name: Adam Woolley
BYU employee since: 2000
My job at BYU is... Professor and Associate Chair, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Currently I'm working on...teaching a great group of students in 2nd semester general chemistry; writing, revising or publishing several papers with my students; getting three Ph.D. students ready to defend their dissertations; year-end department budget adjustments; mentoring three excellent undergraduate students in my lab; collaborating on research with outstanding colleagues at BYU and elsewhere; reviewing a paper for a journal; and there are many more things that I don't have room to describe here.
I'm currently reading...Work related: The Elements by Theodore Gray; Inspirational: Mahatma by Ajgaonkar; Fun: Diary of a Wimpy Kid--The Long Haul, by Jeff Kinney.
Students don't think I notice...when they're texting in class.
My advice to incoming freshman is...work hard, but enjoy the BYU experience.
I've hiked Y Mountain...at least 100 times.
On Saturday mornings you'll find me...sleeping, if I can get away with it.
I feel alive when I'm...mountain biking.
