Church Education System fireside broadcast features Elder Dallin H. Oaks May 1

A Church Education System Fireside broadcast featuring Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University.

Live broadcasts of the fireside also will be available on BYU-Television, BYU-Radio and byubroadcasting.org.

Elder Oaks was called to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve in May 1984. His current duties include chairman of the Missionary Executive Council and vice chairman of the Public Affairs Committee.

A native of Provo, Elder Oaks received his bachelor's degree from BYU and later a law degree from the University of Chicago.

Elder Oaks was president of BYU from 1971 to 1980, and a justice of the Utah Supreme Court from 1980 until his resignation in 1984 to accept his calling to the apostleship.
