Chief Justice Christine Durham to give BYU Constitution Day address Sept. 20

Chief Justice Christine Durham of the Utah Supreme Court will give Brigham Young University’s annual Constitution Day lecture, “American Constitutional Federalism: 51 Constitutions in Action,” Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Gordon B. Hinckley Center Assembly Hall on the BYU campus.

Admission is free, and the public is welcome to attend. A reception will follow the lecture.

Chief Justice Durham has served on the Utah Supreme Court since 1982 and became chief justice in April 2002. She received her Bachelor of Arts  with honors from Wellesley College and her Juris Doctorate from Duke University.

Constitution Day was established in 2004 to recognize the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. BYU traditionally holds a lecture on a weekday close to the official day. The lecture is sponsored by the BYU College of Family, Home and Social Sciences and the Wheatley Institution.
