Candlelight gathering in memoriam for BYU student Camille Cleverley

The BYU and Provo communities said farewell Sunday evening to Camille Cleverley and expressed their love for her family. President Cecil O. Samuelson spoke, Elizabeth Smart played the harp, and the Cleverley family thanked searchers for their efforts.

The Flag of the United States of America at the administration building flies at half-staff in her honor today.

Missing since Aug. 30, Camille was the subject of searches coordinated by the Provo City Police Deparment and involving the BYU Police Department, the Laura Recovery Center, and Destiny Search. Several hundred volunteers also participated.

Search and rescue teams found her body Sunday afternoon at the base of a 200-foot cliff about 1,000 yards east of Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon.

BYU professors using game-changing strategies to prevent injuries, promote wellbeing in youth athletes

May 07, 2024
BYU professor Matt Seeley created the Strong Youth Project after watching all five of his children participate in youth sports. While he loves the many invaluable benefits of youth sports, he laments that his children often miss family activities for practice or face pressures to compete in sports during the offseason. These concerns have fueled his collaboration with professors from disciplines across BYU’s campus to improve organized sport experiences for youth, parents and coaches.
