BYU's Young Company to showcase "Merchant of Venice"

The Young Company, Brigham Young University's Department of Theatre and Media Arts touring theatre company for children, will present a one-hour version of Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice" Monday, March 31, at 5 p.m. in the Nelke Experimental Theatre.

Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.

The 12-member Young Company, BYU's theatre-for-young-audiences ensemble, has been touring the abridged adaptation of this Shakespearean piece to local elementary schools since January. The play was adapted by BYU theatre graduate student Peter Biggs.

The production uses minimal sets, props and costumes to allow the students to focus on the language and classic comic story of good triumphing over evil.
