BYU's Steven J. Hite awarded Fulbright Distinguished Chair grant

A Brigham Young University professor of educational leadership and foundations was recently awarded the Fulbright Distinguished Chair grant for the 2006-2007 school year.

Steven J. Hite, the first professor of education from any institution of higher education in Utah to receive such an award, will spend a year mentoring faculty at the National College of Ireland in Dublin. He will specifically help them in developing their research capabilities and provide instruction in research methodology.

He is one of approximately 35 national scholars to receive this distinction.

The Fulbright Program, established in 1946 under legislation by Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright, allows participants chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential to work with international institutions through observation and the exchange of ideas.

Hite is currently an associate in the Office of Planning and Assessment at BYU. He received his doctorate in measurement and evaluation from Harvard University and his master's and bachelor's degrees from BYU.

For more information, contact Steven Hite at (801) 422-3814.
