BYU's Patrick Panos named to Fulbright Senior Specialists list

Patrick Panos, assistant professor in the School of Social Work at Brigham Young University, was recently added to the Fulbright Senior Specialists Program Candidate Roster by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.

Panos was also recently admitted to Harvard University’s summer-only Master of Public Health degree program with a concentration in quantitative methods. Lasting for three summers, the program is only open to physicians and persons with relevant doctoral degrees.

The Fulbright Senior Specialist Program allows U.S. faculty and professionals to participate in several short-term academic opportunities during the five-year period the candidate is listed on the roster.

Panos was added to the candidate roster as a specialist in international social work with expertise in assisting social service agencies conduct outcome evaluations on their programs using mentored U.S. university student interns.

His work has included assisting a street children’s program in Mexico, a trauma treatment program in Kuwait, family service agencies in Central America, a rape crisis program in Italy and an HIV/AIDS prevention program in East Africa.
