BYU's Orpheus Winds to present varied program Oct. 17

Orpheus Winds, a Brigham Young University School of Music faculty ensemble, will be performing Saturday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Tickets at $6 are available through the Fine Arts Ticket Office or online at byuarts.com.

Orpheus Winds is comprised of Geralyn Giovannetti, oboe; Jaren Hinckley, clarinet; Laurence Lowe, horn; and Christian Smith, bassoon. They will be assisted by other faculty, including Eric Hansen on doublebass and conductor David Blackinton.

Instead of typical wind quintet music, they will be performing two trios, three octets and one nonet. Works will include “Rustiques” by Josephe Cateloube, “8+1” by Hidas Frigyes and “Contrafacta Hungarica” by Ferenc Farkas.
