BYU's Lee Library hosts new Juvenile Literature blog

From helping with homework to creating Japanese cartoon characters, the Harold B. Lee Library’s new Juvenile Literature Blog is designed to inform students and faculty about upcoming literary events and to recommended Web sites and new resources.

“’Homework Helpers’ makes finding books and materials for assignments quick and efficient,” said Larysa Bordner, an elementary education student at Brigham Young University. “I wish more professors would ask for ‘Homework Helpers’ for their assignments.”

One recent post to the blog recommends a Web site called “Face Your Manga.” A manga is a Japanese genre of cartoons, comic books and animated film. On “Face Your Manga,” visitors can create their own manga characters to see what they might look like in a graphic novel.

To access the blog from the Harold B. Library homepage, click on Find Articles, go to the Juvenile Literature Subject Page under Find Databases By Subject and click on Juvenile Literature Library Blog.

Juvenile literature librarians are not the only ones who are blogging to help students and faculty. Other popular library blogs include the Education blog at http://www.lib.byu.edu/education and the Management, Economics and Government Information (MEGI) blog at http://www.lib.byu.edu/business.

Recently, the American Library Association chose BYU’s MEGI blog from a field of 360 sites across the nation as the blog that best reflects expertise in public relations and marketing.

For more information, contact Marsha D. Broadway, juvenile literature librarian, at (801) 422-6685 or Rachel Wadham, education librarian, at (801) 422-6780.
