BYU's Kennedy Center hosts Diplomacy Camp July 19-24

The David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies will host the first summer Diplomacy Camp July 19-24 on the Brigham Young University campus.

The camp is a rich academic and interpersonal experience that will foster a global perspective as well as develop important individual leadership skills. All interested high school students are eligible to attend.

Students will have a chance to practice their parliamentary procedure, negotiate in challenging scenarios, meet with ambassadors and foreign dignitaries and network with their peers.

Each participant will receive a country assignment in a small group of 10 other student leaders. The group will form their own delegation where they will learn, compete and share experiences throughout the week.

Other activities include a showcase of cultures, international games and cinema night and diplomats' dinner, reception and dance.

Cost for the camp is $400 and includes all expenses, including room and board for the week. Students can register at http://diplomacycamp.byu.edu.

For more information visit the Diplomacy Camp Web site at http://diplomacycamp.byu.edu, call (801) 422-3723, or email at diplomacy_camp@byu.edu.

Workshops and activities at the camp will be centered on a five-fold curriculum dealing with issues pertaining to leadership foundations, the local side of global issues, culture matters: understanding the world, the five skills of parliamentary debate and trends in international relations.
