BYU's Dancensemble in concert Nov. 15 and 16

Brigham Young University Dancensemble will perform "Quandry Series" Friday and Saturday (Nov. 15 and 16) at 7:30 p.m. in the Dance Studio Theatre, 166 Richards Building.

Tickets for the performance are $5 and can be purchased at the Fine Arts Ticket Office by calling (801) 378-4322 or at www.byu.edu/hfac. Tickets will also be available at the door prior to the performance.

"Dancensemble gives dancers the opportunity to be involved in live theatre," said Pat Debenham, Dancensemble artistic director and BYU dance faculty member.

Dancensemble concentrates on diversity in choreography and movement, according to Debenham.

"Students begin to find their own artistic voices because they choose their own content and then have to find a way to shape their dance so that it makes a clear statement," Debenham said.

Each year the Dancensemble concert features one or two faculty pieces. This semester Debenham choreographed a piece to the music of mandolin, banjo and guitar by Bela Fleck, entitled "One Too Many." This piece reflects the dancers' contrasts with emotions and an opportunity to see how emotions play against one another.
