BYU's Bean Life Science Museum offers unique Nativity during December

The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum at Brigham Young University is now featuring its annual Nativity, which will be on display until the end of the year. Admission to the museum is free.

“This year we have several surprises,” said Kenneth Packer, museum exhibits designer. “The exhibit now incorporates several new additions, including Mary and Joseph as well as several new animals.”

Every Christmas season, Packer and his team work diligently on this display, making it unique each time. The scene offers an opportunity for the museum staff to share the spirit of the season with friends, family and the community.

Regular museum hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the holiday break, the museum will be closing early at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Dec. 20-23, and Monday through Thursday, Dec. 27-30. The museum will be closed Friday and Saturday, Dec. 24 and 25, and Friday and Saturday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.

The Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum is located on BYU’s campus adjacent to the Marriott Center. The museum, which opened to the public in 1978, is accredited by the American Association of Museums and maintains membership in the Natural Science Collections Alliance. Research collections include vascular and nonvascular plants as well as invertebrate and vertebrate animals, and are all made available to research scientists and educators.

For additional information, call the museum at (801) 422-5051 or visit mlbean.byu.edu.
