BYU Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band join forces for March 2 concert

The Brigham Young University Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band with David Blackinton and Don Peterson conducting will perform Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the de Jong Concert Hall.

Tickets are $9 with $3 off with a BYU or student ID. For tickets, call the Fine Arts Ticket Office at (801) 378-4322 or visit http://performances.byu.edu.

The Wind Symphony will begin the program by playing pieces by Scott Boerma, David Sargent, Murray Boren, Johannes Hanssen and Peter Graham.

The Symphonic Band will play works by Leonard Bernstein, Eric Whitacre, Clifton Williams and Roger Nixon.

The Wind Symphony has toured around the world visiting various countries including Thailand, Australia, Russia and the British Isles.

The Symphonic Band uses full concert band instrumentation with approximately 85 musicians.

BYU planetary geology professor Jani Radebaugh’s contributions to planetary science have reached cosmic proportions as she recently received the prestigious honor of having a minor planet named her. The asteroid, previously known as “45690,” now bears the name “45690janiradebaugh” on official NASA/JPL websites.
