BYU "Voices of Courage" to host White Tie Ball March 12

To raise awareness of abuse, Women’s Services and Resources at Brigham Young University is hosting a White Tie Ball Saturday, March 12, at 6:30p.m. in the Gordon B. Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center Assembly Hall.

There will be a sit-down dinner provided, an artwork display on the theme of abuse, a performance by singer Alex Boye and dancing. Tickets are $30 per couple and will be available beginning Friday, Feb. 25, at the Wilkinson Student Center Information Desk. The dress for this event is formal.

The ball is just one of the events that the campaign “Voices of Courage” is hosting this semester to show what individuals can do to speak out against abuse. Other events include a screening of a film about abuse and a balloon sendoff that will take place on March 3 at 11 a.m in Brigham Square, all promoting this same pledge against abuse.

“We want to promote an attitude of love for one another so that people won’t be afraid to speak out in situations that they know are wrong," said Mia Selway, a spokesperson for the event.

For more information about the event and others, visit voicesofcourage.byu.edu, or contact Mia Selway at (801) 422-6222 or mia_selway@byu.edu.
